Song Of The Day#35- The Great Escape By Patrick Watson

This song came out near the time that Gwen Stefani’s same titled song did and I was always getting them confused. Obviously, this song is the better song out of the two. Patrick Watson’s voice sounds so delicate yet so good it gives me goosebumps every time I listen to this.

Patrick Watson is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Montreal, Quebec. He released his first album back in 2003. Since then, three other members have joined the now, band with four full length albums. The Great Escape is off of their second album, Close To Paradise.

The Great Escape is a song about well…Escaping life. Getting away for a little because life has just gotten so fucked up and you need time to clear your head. Patrick Watson has such a hauntingly good voice that will never get old or fail to impress me.

My favourite part is:

Hey child, things are looking down.
That’s okay, you don’t need to win anyways.
Don’t be afraid, just eat up all the gray
and it will fade all away.
Don’t let yourself fall down.
