Song Of The Day#54-Grace by Captives

cover

If you’re a fan of Seahaven then you will defiantly like this band. Actually, I think if you like most post-hardcore bands that you will like this band too. I know for one that I cannot wait for their full length album to be released. This band has so much potential to do great things.

Captives is a post hardcore band from Eagle Mountain, Utah. “My Eyes Are Open is what radio stations would be playing if they actually had an ear for music. While listening it’s easy to pick up on their rock roots, but the further into a track you get the more layers start to unfold. A lulling baseline might kickstart a song, but by its end emotionally draining vocals are being shouted, eclipsing your first impression and morphing it into an almost transcendental experience of pain and whirling guitar riffs. This album is a deeply emotional journey that will move the listener. It’ll pick you up one moment, make you want to cry the next, and then leave you with a sense of hope for the future.”-Taken from the band’s bandcamp page.

Grace
is a lovely song that at first, is slow and gently but then quickly speeds up with still gentle vocals and an intense drumming part.

My favourite part is:

Even though I’m young I still feel old. Like a book that’s written, a story told.

I am responsible for your pain, yes I am the disappointing summer rain.

Yes I am the crossing train, yes I am the one you need to entertain.
So we took the time and we took it back. All deaf from hearing my voice crack.

We shouted out to the heaven above, ” Have I lost your love”.

Song Of The Day#53-Drunk Girls By LCD Soundsystem

download

If you have an Ipod/Ipad/Iphone/anything Apple now, you probably have heard of Tap Tap. The amazing game that allows you to listen to your favourite songs and found out about new songs while playing a very addicting game. Tap tap is how I found this song and how I found Fun. The awesome band that has taken over the world thanks to their song, We Are Young.

LCD Soundsystem was an American-based dance-punk band from New York City. It was fronted by American singer-songwriter and producer James Murphy, co-founder of record label DFA Records. The group released three critically acclaimed albums, LCD SoundsystemSound of Silver and This Is Happening. LCD Soundsystem broke up during 2011, their final show was in April.

Drunk Girls is just a light, fun song about how girls act much differently drunk than boys do when they’re drunk. Girls have the perks and advantages while boys have…well close to nothing when they’re drunk.

My favourite part is:

(Drunk girls)

Just ’cause I’m shallow doesn’t mean that I’m heartless

(Drunk girls)

Just ’cause I’m heartless doesn’t mean that I’m mean

(Drunk boys)

Sometimes love gives us too many options

(Drunk girls)

Just ’cause you’re hungry doesn’t mean that you’re lean

(Drunk girls)

I’ve heard lies that could curdle your heartstrings

(Drunk girls)

A couple truths, maybe burn out your eyes

You can listen to Drunk Girls here.

Song Of The Day#52-Secrets (Hush) By He Is We

heiswe2013_400_400_70

I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY. YOU DO NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW HAPPY I AM RIGHT NOW. Rachel Taylor has rejoined He Is We! YAY! I am so happy for her! Even though I feel kind of bad for Stevie, I feel that the band wouldn’t be as good without Rachel. Thank god she’s back on board! As for Trevor, No one is completely sure if he will be on board with He Is We because he has another project going on. I hope he stays and does this new album!

He Is We is an indie pop band from Tacoma, Washington. This duo started playing music in 2008. As of september 2012, lead vocalist, Rachel Taylor was forced to resign because she was diagnosed with ankylosis spondylitis. This disease is when your joints and bones in your spine join together (extremely painful). Stevie Scott was the lead singer of He Is We until Rachel rejoined the band. Currently, they have one album and one EP and are working on their second album. Secrets (Hush) is off of their up coming album.

Since this is only a teaser, I can’t really post the lyrics or my favourite part. But I am very pumped for this new album! You should be too!

51W5Z1+sAYL._SS500_

This song is just the cutest! I can’t get enough of it! For the past few days, this song has been one of the few songs I have kept listening to on repeat. This song isn’t deep with intense meaning, it’s a long song that is bubbly and a fun song to listen to.

To be honest, I have no clue who Chris August is since I can’t even find this song on iTunes and Amazon will not let me buy it. What I do know is that this song is off of the album, What you’re looking for.  Sorry but you should still listen to this song!

My favourite part is:

so hello there
how are you? amazing
it is nice to finally meet you
I’ve been patently waiting
been waitin’ just to see you
to tell you I dreamt you
now I found you so call off that search
cause I found my stranger (oh)

stranger ’til they call your name
it’s amazing
it’s just a simple thing (yeah)
I see you walking
but don’t you walk too far (no)
I may be nervous
I wanna be where you are (yeah baby)

Song Of The Day#48-Couldn’t See It By PK Fire

2753400574-1

I love discovering new bands. It’s one of the great reasons why I started blogging I guess. PK Fire is a band I’m looking forward to hearing new music from in the near future. Their music reminds me a bit of Dance Gavin Dance as well as Anabor.

PK Fire is a band from Canton, Michigan that started as two best friends playing folk music in their basement. PK Fire is now five best friends playing rock music in other people’s basements. Sorry, We Tried is their third EP.

Couldn’t See It is a song about a relationship that’s going south.

my favourite part is:

I see you
All over campus and I
Just freak out
I really wish I could die

Listen closely ’cause I know this sounds
Like it’s ending could you please calm down
I just want you to stand up straight and be okay, please be okay!

Song Of The Day#47-Kaleidescope By fahrenheit43

fahrenheit43 is an Australian Pop/Rock that has been playing together since 2008. Their début album will be out Some time this year.

Kaleidescope is a song about “religion and how people outside the church are constantly feeling judged and neglected by those who call themselves Christians” says the band.

My favourite part is:

I’m scared of what I know

But I’m unbroken

Its easy losing hope

But don’t let go

We need to live outside our own opinions

But we’re getting closer now

We’re getting closer now
